COVID-19: UK OPEN FOR TRAVEL

Updated: Feb 9, 2022

The UK Government announced that this will open its borders for travel with all restrictions removed for people who had an eligible vaccine.

What are these changes?

  • From 4am on 11 February all testing requirements will be removed for eligible fully vaccinated arrivals, with only a Passenger Locator Form (PLF) now required.

  • Arrivals who are not recognised as fully vaccinated will only need to take a pre-departure test and a PCR test on or before day 2 after they arrive in the UK.

  • Children aged 12-15 in England will be able to prove their vaccination status or proof of prior infection via a digital NHS COVID Pass from 3 February for outbound travel.

  • Travel changes come in ahead of the February half term, and follow the success of the booster programme.

All the testing measures for eligible fully vaccinated international travellers arriving in the UK will be removed from 4 am on 11 February, the UK Government has come to one step forward to report the travel sector.

The changes announced on 24 January mean that the UK has one of the most free-flowing borders across Europe in terms of opened economy and society.

This has brought the simplification of travel rules and providing good news for families who are being apart due to Covid-19 travel restrictions. Also, the UK Government aims to boost up the tourism industry that has been significant suffering under this pandemic.

With the success of the UK’s vaccine and booster come out, the UK Government is now able to reduce the number of travel restrictions, ensure that there is a good system in place for international travellers.

The new policy has removed all the travel restrictions, and this aim to provide stability for travellers and their industry throughout 2022, and push up the economy of the country that ensure the UK remain one of the best places to do business and travel in the world. Also, families and friends can make their way across the border for global connection, while saving around d £100 for the average family with the testing kits.
